Premiership



Three former LOI players took to the pitch at Goodison Park on Saturday as Everton played host to Wolves. Seamus Coleman (ex-Sligo Rovers) played for the Blues while Kevin Doyle (St Pats and Cork City) and Stephen Ward (Bohemians) were in action for Wolves. Everton won 2-1 with Ward giving away a late penalty from which the home side scored the winner.



Wes Hoolahan, formerly of Shels captained Norwich City again as they faced Arsenal at Carrow Road. Hoolahan played 58 minutes before being replaced as his side took the lead but eventually lost 2-1 to the Gunners.



Shane Long ex-Cork City returned from the injury which kept him out of Irelands play off against Estonia in West Brom’s game against Bolton. The Tipperary man played the full game and scored the winning goal in the 56th minute.



Former UCD and Derry City striker Conor Sammon made his first start of the season for Wigan in their Dramatic 3-3 draw against Blackburn Rovers. The Dubliner played 68 minutes before being substituted.



Championship



Ex Galway United and Derry City ‘keeper David Forde played 35 minutes of Millwall’s 2-1 defeat to Bristol City before going off injured. Forde conceded the first goal before being taken off.



Former St Pats and Drogheda United midfielder Keith Fahey played 90 for Birmingham as they drew 1-1 with Peterborough.



Noel Hunt formerly of Waterford United and Shamrock Rovers played the full game for Reading against Cardiff as the Royals lost 2-1 to the Welsh side. @boyhunt “Gutted with the result today thought we deserved more!!! 1st start is 6 weeks good to blow off the cobwebs but would of love 3points!!Gutted”.



League One



John O’Flynn (ex Cork City) played 72 minutes and scored a penalty after half an hour for Exeter as they 2-2 draw with Yeovil. Former Wexford Youths striker Jimmy Keohane came on as an injury time sub for Exeter too.



Ex St Pats midfielder Stephen Quinn played 90 minutes for Sheffield United in their 1-0 win against Carlisle Utd



Brian Barry-Murphy, the former Cork City man played the full game for Rochdale as they beat Preston 1-0.



Former Shamrock Rovers, Longford Town and Cork City striker Dave Mooney played 73 minutes before being replaced for Leyton Orient in their 1-1 draw with Stevenage.



Ex-Drogheda United, Dundalk and Sporting Fingal midfielder Shaun Williams was an injury time substitute for MK Dons as they thrashed Colchester 5-1.



Jonathan Douglas (ex Monaghan Utd) and Niall McGinn were both in action for Brentford in their 1-0 defeat by Charlton Athletic. Douglas played 90 minutes while ex Derry winger McGinn played 71. Douglas tweeted @dougieno4 “Really gutted to lose today”. McGinn also gave his reaction to the game on twitter @nmcginn14 “Great display from the boys 2day thought we did everythin right but score”.



League Two



Former Longford Town defender Richard Rose played 78 minutes In Dagenham and Redbridge’s 3-2 defeat to Southend.



Both Padraig Amond (ex Sligo Rovers and Shamrock Rovers) and Kevin Long (ex Cork City) were involved for Accrington Stanley as they drew 1-1 with Macclesfield Town. Long played 90 minutes and Amond came on as a substitute in the 67th minute.



Alan Bennett the former Cork City defender played the full match in Cheltenham’s 2-0 win over Port Vale.



Scottish Premier League



Paddy McCourt, the ex-Shamrock Rovers and Derry City winger came on for Celtic with 21 minutes remaining as they beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle 2-0. Ex-Shels striker Richie Foran was in action for Inverness and lasted 78 minutes before being substituted.



Scottish Cup Third Round



Shaun Fagan (ex-Galway United) played 90 minutes as Stirling Albion were eliminated by Dundee. The first Division side won 2-1.



Former Derry and Shamrock Rovers striker Tommy Stewart played the first half if Partick Thistle’s 1-1 draw with Cutler.
